Atychiphobia

What bothers you? Have you ever decided not to try something because you were afraid of failing? Or has your fear of failure meant that you have subconsciously undermined your own efforts to avoid a larger failure? Then you have atychiphobia, which is an intense fear of failure. As we all know, this is a common emotion that almost every human being experiences at least once in his or her lifetime. I, too, had a fear of failure, and I am now facing my fear of moving forward; I am terrified of making mistakes because one mistake can derail your entire plan. I have low self-esteem or self-confidence and frequently think negative statements. In my mind, for example, after graduating, “I’ll never be good enough to get that promotion,” or “I’m not smart enough to get on that team.” And now that I’m learning how to cope with it, I just tell myself that; Every time we fail at something, we can choose to look for the lesson we’re meant to learn. These lessons are critical; they are how we grow and avoid making the same mistake again. Failures only hold us back if we let them.
